hi: the wiki is currently configured to display images from Wikimedia Commons when the file is missing locally. for instance a link to File:112.jpg (a file that is either missing or was never here) uses a Commons redirect to a picture of a Volvo. pls see this page at MediaWiki.org. apparently $wgUseInstantCommons is currently set to true. i presume it needs to be set to false. :) Hipcrime (talk) 11:07, 10 December 2020 (PST)

skipcaptcha rights

Update to Progress

To: Ld3105 Conciërge Kapitein-Commandant Tabs User:Decæptive Hipcrime

I would like to give an update to our progress and what we have left to do.
Our first priority is to fix the images. I am happy to report a solution has been found and is being implemented. We are waiting on the webmaster to download the sorted files.
In the meantime, LD3105 and others should hold off uploading images. First, the files will not overwrite when using mass uploader, or when caught in the mod que. Technically the files are not in the right directory, but the wiki does not know that
Second, it may be redundant. The fix we are working on should be done by tomorrow, so most of these files should be there. We will have broken files primarily from 2018 onward. Those should not trigger the overwrite flag.
Once that is done, we will work on the Issues hipcrime and Co. have laid out. (commons linking, spam filter, skipcaptcha, moderation, and increasing the size of forum icons).
I thought Admins can modify the whitelist and blacklist, I think it's a wiki page? I will check. I will also ask for the localsettings.php , with the server info redacted and allow you guys to suggest changes to it. I will DM hipcrime, Tabs, and whoever else on the forum.
I'm not a wiki guy, so excuse my lack of knowledge. I will try to get this fixed ASAP, or point you to the right direction. Hopefully this week we will be at 99%. --Umkemesik

Logo Change

I think we should change the main (restoration) logo on the main page. We can keep the restoration logo in all other uses. But I think it's time for ED to finally use the default logo.   • We should also set the browser favicon as well (is this handled by LocalSettings.php?), as right now it's just a standard web globe icon. The first one (crossing saber) could be used for that. As for the actual wiki logo, I think we should have a completely new branding, and make a new logo from scratch. The restoration logo that we are using looks great, but for the main site I want something a little more traditional, at least the color scheme.   • I noticed you're trying to upload a favicon. I've uploaded an HD (super-sampled) favicon with trimmed edges to get as much of the æ symbol in it as much as possible. And favicons are always 16x16 pixels. I've noticed that you use a program called "ImageReady" (based on image metadata) to edit/resize images. However, I recommend you use Paint.Net, as it's very versatile and easy to use. You can also download plugins for it here, no need to torrent anything. file upload size limit

hi, i found a video from the Mewen redirect that is hosted by Wayback, but it is 9.1 mb, and the limit is apparently no longer 100mb but now it is 8mb. would someone please download this from there and upload (hopefully via Special:Upload instead of any wiki trickery but i will take what i can get). orrrrr someone could assign rights to allow larger uploads (100mb never worked for me, and i think the MediaWiki limit is/was 32mb) for the appropriate group. plzkthx. :) Hipcrime (talk) 23:07, 12 May 2021 (EDT)

new url configuration

hi: when looking at Special:WhatLinksHere/File:Hello.jpg, it offers the first 50 with a link to change the view to see 500 instead. but when you click the "500", the URL looks like this:

  • uh oh i think that any page title that is interpreted with a % in the URL is not editable at all. iow, try to edit File talk:Hipcrimes future.gif or any page with a ' or other character in the title and i think it will choke on edit, history, and even when you workaround with the old style, the "preview" and "submit" buttons are broke.   • i've been working on a patch for this, but it seems this issue runs deeper than just a quick nginx rewrite. in the meantime i've removed hooks for menu items, so links like view history and edit actions will direct you to a URL containing the "old format". ED-relevance of Geoshea's article

This was referred to here by CrackRabbit, all Geoshea did was do an erotic RP with a girl (KBOS) four years his junior (according to her they were boyfriend and girlfriend during this time, and no one seemed to have any issue with this until their spat began), and draw hentai pictures featuring fictional cartoon characters under eighteen years old, which he posted on a hentai site full of similar images, somehow KBOS used this to trigger basically everyone on the internet who knew both of them, to turn against Geoshea where they all began slandering him by calling him a paedophile, and began repeatedly taking coordinated spam actions against him on Discord and other places, during this time he basically just grumbled and then began mewling when I guess he became lonely, and most recently he has now indefinitely withdrawn from the internet.

Because of this it is basically a non-event, just an immature girl trying to blow her lover's spat way out of proportion in an attempt to quickly 'make it big on the internet' or something, hardly worth mentioning on ED and keeping such an article would make it appear as if ED has become lax, and is allowing itself to be used as a springboard for otherwise boring people to use lies, exaggeration and slander to embiggen themselves at the expense of others, so Geoshea's article should be either deleted or renamed to something regarding KBOS and her pot-stirring, with the content rephrased to reflect this, anyway there should at least be both the {watch} and {emo} banners at the top of the article until it is either deleted or renamed. As the Geoshea article comes from Fun Shitposting wiki, it was clearly obvious that the article was a shitty attack article, well written and document for FSW standards, I would've liked talking to Geoshea about his cringeworthy past and clarify the drama with KBOS for a more sourced article but given the circumstances on what happened with FSW itself, I think this will be a lost cause. Update: I have been wandering in Ficreation through Freighttrain and in hopes of contacting Gabriel, I have found this section on his User talk page "A sequence of letters of urgency" saying that even some of "KBOS' cronies" (or "hatedom") as Freight said, don't even like KBOS herself, saying she's a manipulative whore. But it does contain messages from Geoshea himself supposedly on hiatus and i'd like to pull out this interesting quote (that freight already answered to) that summarizes this whole shit:

Rework the entire article, mention the CP and waifus, be neutral about KBOS' drama (mention that they are both sick fucks in this drama), mention the treason and how he lost access to Ficreation, and make a TL;DR version of the MYCUN and try to discard edits of his covers or put them next to the originals. I will give a final veto if the article is done, meanwhile i'll move the current Geoshea article to my Userspace as a purgatory. You better have some meat around that bone.

I'm not sure what you mean by treason, by the way this would also be the first time I'd have had to edit an article like this, I usually just write sci-fi blogs, so it might not look quite as ahh, zany when I am done with it.
Also regarding my personal interest in Geoshea, I don't know him outside of Ficreation and I'm mainly just looking to make sure that the drama there is quelled, as of today the new admins are still infighting, and are now on their second third round of banning each other's profiles there over drama still occurring elsewhere, so if it gets any worse I'd rather not have to spend a few hours reuploading hundreds of blog images to yet another site. Well if I wanted to make a blog on neocities, I would probably have to alter the HTML I use, and some of my blog posts are quite large and I don't even want to think about having to alter the HTML for multi-column list tables with over 600 entries, anyway regarding Geoshea's article, relatively little drama actually reached Ficreation itself, apparently most of it happened on Discord and elsewhere, if I could get in contact with Geoshea then he might be interested in doing this himself, I'll ask Milcery229 if he knows how. TabbyGarf, I do apologize if the article is lackluster and lacking in funny shit, though I managed to archive a good chunk of the drama and if you want me to improve it, I'll try my best. I do believe the Geoshea article being an archive of the Ficreation Drama as a whole should do the trick and I'm willing to make a compromise. And Freighttrain, I don't really see the point of you starting an edit war here since you could very easily move to another website or NeoCities away from the drama while moving on from Geo. Geoshea has left the Internet forever and there really is no point defending him; as for Milcery, he's no longer active on Ficreation and turned his back on Geo, so there's that. Besides, you're now wasting days on Encyclopedia Dramatica and Geoshea's talk page arguing with others, which is already more time wasted than the few hours of uploading blog pictures. Inconsistent main page protection

ED-relevance of VosVosKitsune's Zenko article

Hello again, this is concerning VosVosKitsune's desire for the removal of the Zenko article that was written about her.

First of all, after recently having had to move my sci-fi blog from Geoshea's Ficreation wiki; after it was closed due to infighting amongst the new admins; I reposted my blog to the Fresh Websites wiki; in the process having to reupload over 300 images; it was there I met VosVosKitsune who had been commenting on their ED article about her fears of being doxxed in her Zenko article here, and also regarding repeated falsehoods made of a relationship between her and Se AKA Seunghwan Lee, I then told her of how I had recently been working at having Geoshea's ED article removed or at least rephrased to show that it was just an attack article against him by KBOS and her cronies, and that I would have proceeded with this had Geoshea expressed interest in what I was doing, though unfortunately he said that he would not be returning to the internet in a social capacity.

Anyway Vos described to me her internet situation of late 2019 through 2020, and I discerned no interesting or scandalous material, or anything else worthy of satire, I then had a look at her Zenko article here and it seemed to me as if someone had taken some otherwise uninteresting nonevents, cooked them to a crisp and then overseasoned them with ED's zany vocabulary, making it difficult for one to determine if there was originally any real meat to this story, this may also be an issue common with many ED articles, I understand that you are in the process of rebuilding, but I will suggest that it wouldn't hurt to pay attention to standards and quality control when setting the new foundations of your site.

Anyway the Fresh Websites wiki I had only just reposted my sci-fi blog to, was suddenly closed for seemingly arbitrary reasons, I then sought another wiki to reupload my blog to, and Vos was kind enough to allow me to do so on one of the wikis she had been administrating, so I offered to help her with her problem here as she expressed worry at being attacked by trolls if she did so herself, and so on behalf of Vos I am requesting that the Zenko article be reviewed for veracity and relevance, with the intent of it being deleted or rewritten to show the truth of her situation. There's no way to remove articles on ED. The people who run this site are sociopathic: they don't care about libel, character assassination and misinformation on articles. The only thing you can do is block articles from appearing on search-engines and this restricts traffic/clicks to article. Once an article is blocked/de-indexed by Google, it will only get a few hundred (max) clicks a year rather than many thousands. Tach (talk) 21:35, 28 August 2021 (EDT)

My application for ED Sysop

I'm gonna answer some questions in case some people are skeptical:

Why?
ED has been getting filled with lots of anti-lulz recently. The current admins are too busy or inactive so the AIDS often stays up for hours or even days before it's flushed. I'm the most active EDiot to date, looking at recent changes almost 24/7.

Yes. I already have experience with being a wiki SysOp since I was a Bureaucratic Fuck on the Reception wikis before I left that flamewar-ridden shithole.

Are you hat collecting?
No. I have deathnoticed lots of pages and sentenced a lot of users to death row.

What articles will you flush?
Unlulzy Uncyclopedia shit and blatant attack pages.

What users will you ræp?
Vandals, spambots and butthurt faggots.

What pages will you protect?
Pages that keep being targets of vandalism, spam or butthurt revisionism. Only going to protect articles if they recently suffered from these.

I spend a lot of my time editing this wiki and often check the logs for vandalism (which I recently removed), so I would want to be in this position for rollback and page protection purposes. Kaizen and I are not wiki experts, we simply set it up and have you guys go at it. We are busy managing many facets of ED. As far as setting perms, that is something that should be brought to his direct attention, if you have not already (you should make a discord account and introduce yourself to the rest of the admins and Crats). We are using the default perms, and have made a number of changes and will continue to do so. It is advisable to type the changes out yourself so he can just drop it into local settings.   • is there any update on this? the .ogg of fagnotta's daddyporn keeps getting moved (by the same user) to an .ogv without explanation except to link to an IETF document which is updated and far past my limited knowledge of .ogg files. an old .OGG file of fagnotta's daddyporn worked fine at .rs and is even downloadable from archive.org (last i looked) but it will not play here. i believe i tried the .OGV format and it similarly would not play. pls halp -hipcrime 17:55, 1 December 2021 (EST)
