Laura's final solution

Laura Hale (Also known as: Michaela Ecks, Purple Popple, Partly_bouncy and halegirl) is one of fandom's many batshit insane people. Of course, the fact that she is batshit insane should not, in and of itself, grant her the right to be featured here. But the sheer length of time in which she has been practicing this particular brand of fuck-upedness should at least merit a mention.

For instance, she likes to "mentor" fourteen year old girls about sex. In fact, there was a whole post on the LiveJournal community fanthropology, teaching little girls all about the buttsex. But then, "The entry was deleted at the request of DragonScholar, the community admin, because he didn't want the community to be associated with pedophilia."[1]

No, really?

Hale's first real notable contribution in fandom was with FanFiction.Net at at least 100 years ago with a column called Writer's University (the name itself which has proven to be a prime example of just what education isn't). This alone should tell you something about her. Perhaps more telling, however, is that on a site where any nutbar can have an account, she couldn't even find a place there.

One of the reasons Hale decided to leave FanFiction.Net is: "I've gone on for about four pages at this point and I could include numerous other incidents that have upset me, created problems etc. I could probably go on for about ten pages but I think at this point, the point has been made. It all boils down to respect I think." [2]

No one can decide which is more disturbing: That she spent four pages on it, or that she could have spent ten.

But even after this incident, which took place in 2001, Hale wasn't finished being a nut. No, she would later go on to be involved with several aspects of fandom, including fandomination.net, fanlib and the product of her own diseased mind, the Fanhistory wiki.

Fanhistory: A Case For Mandatory Sterilization

Laura's goal with FanHistory is to make cashmonies. In an effort to make more pages and thus look more valuable to potential buyers, she uses a bot to cull entries from FanFiction.Net. This means that if you find your fic on Fan History, it doesn't mean you're important, it just means that the bot knows no better.

She ignores very important aspects of fandom history, all the while pushing her personal wanky agendas, like using her site to get money[3], and tax fraud. What an awesome historian, huh? Plus, she seems to think that making people hate her is a good idea.

Perhaps the single best example of her stupidity, though, is that she wants to make $500,000 on FanHistory.[4]

Read that a few times and let it sink in.

Fan History versus OTW

Laura thinks that OTW (Organization for Transformative Works)[5] is a threat to her Wiki. When they were starting out, OTW rebuffed her offer to help them. After that happened, Laura Hale threw a pissfit and started slandering them, and making the OTW entry in her Wiki extremely biased against the group.

She outed a member of OTW just because they were a member of OTW [6].

And then fandom got pissed and Laura was shit outta luck[7].

All your LJ belong to Laura!

One dark and stormy night, Laura decided to let a bot loose on livejournal[8], and let it collect information about it's users to stuff her inbred excuse for a wiki. People[9] were[10] pissed[11].

Wikimedia Foundation grifting

After failing to grift the fandom communities, Hale finally found the ultimate grift would be provided courtesy of the Wikimedia Foundation. Some time in 2011, Hale managed to get the Foundation to buy her a camera and an airline ticket to cover the Paralympics in Australia. A side benefit of this arrangement was having her cooze lapped by none other than Maria Sefidari, chair of the WMF Board of Directors. Their ugly, ugly love came to light during what is known to Wikipedophile as "Framgate" where Fram, a respected member of the Wikipedia community, was banned by the Foundation for daring to question the hundreds of crapstubs Hale shat out all over Wikipedia.
