John Melanson (also known as John "Fester" Murray Melanson and as Chef Fester) is a convicted child molester who is in jail once again for abducting and molesting another child. He was recently arrested in Hay River, Northern Territories, Canada. On July 4, 2011, he was convicted and labeled a dangerous offender and was sentenced to an indeterminate prison term for sexually assaulting two Hay River boys. He has 56 convictions on his criminal record, including eight sexual offenses.

Melanson is involved in the Montreal Ganymede Collective, and was the roommate of Jason Garrison, the person who designed the Epifora website. When he was arrested formerly, Garrison mentioned that he was involved in the Montreal Ganymede Collective. That information was swept under the rug by the group. In addition to the Collective, Melanson is also a member of the Free Spirits Coalition and CBLF.

Melanson's modus operandi is to gain the trust of parents, molest their children, steal their money and property, then run.

He was not of an age I was predominately attracted to... again it was somebody under my normal age - namely 9 to 11; I ended up fondling the young boy. When I realized what I was doing, I knew if I stayed it would continue. So I ran with the family's car. I was arrested the same day. The police pulled my file, got suspicious and was prosecuted for 3 charges of sexual contacts. I was sentenced to 7 months in prison.

The mother developed a crush on me. She was looking for an instant-daddy. Because his apartment had been damaged, she offered him to stay at her place for a couple of days and then asked me to stay longer. So I agreed. A couple of weeks later the boy and I had gotten filthy dirty playing football. I was in the bath tub. The mother knocked on the door, asked me to draw the curtain and put her boy in the bathtub. That did it. The boy, again, was 7 and under my normal age. Sexual contacts and oral sex occurred 5 or 6 times. The child was not knowledgeable but aggressive:

after the first time, while his mother was working over time, the little guy grabbed me. I am not justifying myself, just describing the events; anything I did to him, he wanted to do the same to me. Two weeks later I had to leave. Two days before I left, his mother had left the house early. I waited for the boy to get dressed. It was the kind of boy who hates getting dressed. Instead he was jumping on the bed saying "Come lick on this. Come on." That's when I decided to leave. Two days later I took the mother to work and the kid to school. Just before driving him to school, I took pictures of him undressed.

I left with the family car and kept it. I got arrested two months later in another province. The car had been reported stolen

Our Investigation

We have taken the following steps in this investigation, although we are still in the process of gathering information and trying to connect the links:

We obtained information from a source stating that a John Melanson was wanted by the Canadian authorities on charges of property and sexual crimes. The source confided that they believed that Melanson is the same person as Camper, a pedophile who is known on BoyChat and as the owner of Epifora web hosting services.
While we have been able to determine that Camper's first name is actually John, by his own admission, we have not been able to link the last name of Melanson to Camper as of yet. Both the name Camper and Melanson have been linked to the Montreal Ganymede Collective and other similarities exist regarding their online activities and possible ownership of Epifora, however we are continuing our search to confirm that these two names are indeed connected.
