NEW PORTAL MAINTINENCE POLICY *READ THIS*

We have a new policy concerning portals and how they get changed. No longer will one person caretake for each portal, we will be changing them all as a community. I have created a page that explains it more thoroughly and makes it easy to keep track of which ones that have been done and when, read it: Encyclopedia Dramatica:Portal Maintenance --zaiger (talk) 04:46, 28 January 2012 (CET)

War on Drugs targets sugar and spice and everything nice

A principal in Pennsylvania was suspended for failing to crack down against students abusing cinnamon, a highly dangerous drug which can cause respiratory distress and death. Other schools in Pennsylvania have taken a more proactive approach, banning footwear that students can use to smuggle the deadly drug into classrooms.[1] Meanwhile, scientists are leading a push to "control access to sugary products", as close cousins of that Devil's drug alcohol, declaring it a dangerous drug.[2] I kind of miss the days when I had to make up shit that sounded this stupid. Wnt 17:05, 2 February 2012 (EST)

The sugar thing might end up with the nanny state taxing sugar in order to "correct" everyone's diet. Some governments are already taxing fats. The government believes that people are incapable of taking care of themselves without the nanny state guiding them. --JuniusThaddeus 11:19, 3 February 2012 (EST)

Clone image

So I uploaded this image first, http://encyclopediadramatica.es/File:Ponydoll_semen.PNG and then Halcy comes out of nowhere and uploads this one. http://encyclopediadramatica.es/File:Ponysemen.jpg. I know this was on purpose because that's the image I slightly edited to make it seem funnier. he would had got that image from here only. I don't really care though I just figured cloning images was not allowed. Lord Tony 03:08, 5 February 2012 (EST)

Could be highly probable that s/he just found it elsewhere and didn't know we already had it uploaded? --Edgeworth E. Euler 03:46, 5 February 2012 (EST)
After I uploaded the image on ED people over the internet have been spreading it all around as I can see from google images. So he probably didn't know then I guess. I thought ED warns you before you are about to upload a duplicate image though? Lord Tony 05:58, 5 February 2012 (EST)
You just said it was slightly edited, and the slightest difference has it treated as a different image. There's your answer. - Vinland 07:57, 5 February 2012 (EST)
He meant slightly edited from the original screencap before it was uploaded here (the Answers page was baleeted though, so I can't check the difference). But the new image is a JPEG, so the system wouldn't detect its similarity to the original file. – NuclearDuckie 10:51, 5 February 2012 (EST)

Wikipedia Review leaks

I was finally granted access to the deepest, darkest places of the Wikipedia Review. It's in these secret places that Daniel Brandt recruited individuals to dox and pressure the administration of the original ED. I now present to you and the rest of the public the secret WR thread entitled "I'm researching Encyclopedia Dramatica" (thread id = 30450): Wikipedia Review/I'm researching Encyclopedia Dramatica/Page 1 and Wikipedia Review/I'm researching Encyclopedia Dramatica/Page 2. Now you can see what was said, who was saying what, and when things were said. The WR thread is a part of ED history, and that history belongs to us. The WR doesn't have the right to keep portions of our own history hidden from us. This is why I'm leaking it. I feel that all ED users and those researching ED deserve to know what happened and how it happened. --JuniusThaddeus 18:00, 11 February 2012 (EST)

Social engineering:
First, I'll say my preferred way of handling this would be simply for you to add a post explaining the error to the bottom of the thread. I must say that I think the distinction between the images is splitting hairs, to some degree. However, I understand that Wikipidiots can be very threatening, and we want to be helpful to our members and not cause unneeded drama. So ....

I have added you to a group that has relaxed time limits on editing your posts. You should be able to go back and edit any of your problematic posts. I hope this will allow you to satisfy your concerns.

Please:

1) Only edit what is necessary to correct your mistake;
2) Make a clear statement at the end of each post that it was edited.

If it doesn't work, get back to us. I have cc'd the other staff (Selina, Hersch, Somey), and they can help you if I'm not around.

I've told the Wikipedians that I would ask you to insert a disclaimer into each of the posts referring the images:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/9/93/20100328144536!Gloeden%2C_Wilhelm_von_%281856-1931%29_-_n._1764.jpg

If you can't do that, then I recommend moving the thread to a non-public location.
Actually, it's more by accident than social engineering. I asked gomi to modify the posts of users besides myself, but he or she accidentally thought that I wanted to modify some of my more ancient posts. This all happened by accident. I didn't post it earlier because the thread isn't really interesting (they mostly discuss Google and search engines), but I've decided to do it anyway. Basically, Brandt wanted this thread to be indexed by Google so reporters and readers could use information from it. These are great. I have been super busy with IRL this week so I haven't had a chance to comment, but I read them all and I have to say that this is probably the most serious case of taking the Internet too seriously in the history of the Internet. I can't believe they suspended you over it though, that was a truly butthurt move. Honestly, if all Brandt wanted was to have his article taken down, like he stated in the thread, he should have just given up when it was taken down. But no, that wasn't good enough, he had to prove he has the biggest dick on the Internet (more like is the biggest dick on the Internet, amirite) and have the whole site taken down. Yeah nice try buddy. It takes a serious fuckup to go after ED and come out looking like the asshole in the end, but somehow you managed to do it. Her whole persecution complex is continuing. Now she has a journal entry ending with wishes for illness and awful things to happen to "the trolls" who bother her. She still thinks she's in the right and the trolls are in the wrong.

She thinks everyone who replied to someonen's journal(an entry about her) on DA is automatically a troll. She continues to post nude bdsm pics at the same time she's claiming she isn't vulgar.

I'd make a page on this dumb cunt, but I don't have the time to write up a full article. I have caps of her journal entries and other incidences of her bullshit. Our very own Cyndilovespiccolo got in on it and admitted to the fuckup leading to her ED page while trying to talk reason into this hambeast. I have to applaud her for growing up like she did. The person who created Scroogle in order to rip off Google and its algorithms is claiming that I was using webcitation.org to rip off NameBase. • Doesn't the month have to happen to make a choice? O-o TylerRosenow º Ӕ º º 21:28, 24 February 2012 (EST)
lol thats true. ~Oblique 21:58, 24 February 2012 (EST)
What do you mean 3? There is ONE vd given out a month, and February went to Junius. --zaiger (talk) 22:00, 24 February 2012 (EST)
Actually whatever. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a dick or say anyone didn't deserve it. If 3 people were outstanding editors in February than they deserve it and congratulations to them. --zaiger (talk) 14:27, 25 February 2012 (EST)
i was apparently mixing up January with February. -hipcrime 07:00, 26 February 2012 (EST)

banning spammers

Hi, please make sure if you ban a spammer that you mark it as spam in the ban-reasons drop-down. It makes it way easier for me, when I am blocking spamming IP addresses, if I can just go through the block list and look for (spam) in the block reasons. Thanks. --zaiger (talk) 23:15, 25 February 2012 (EST)

noted. -hipcrime 07:00, 26 February 2012 (EST)

I think

Videos should be set back down to 1 day. See votn for a list of about 40 reasons why. Mike the Græt (Talk) 00:10, 29 February 2012 (EST)

Yes I am agree. ~Oblique 00:16, 29 February 2012 (EST)
me too. -hipcrime 00:17, 29 February 2012 (EST)
 • Depends. Most normal VOTNs I would agree should be 1 day. 2 days reserved for epic vids. TylerRosenow º Ӕ º º 01:06, 29 February 2012 (EST)
Ya if everyone agrees, and actually does it. The reason the VOTN was set to 2 days initially was because nobody was keeping up with it. Do we have people are going to make sure there is a VOTN every day? --zaiger (talk) 11:05, 1 March 2012 (EST)
 • I'll do it until my asshole is raw, Zaiger. TylerRosenow º Ӕ º º 11:14, 1 March 2012 (EST)
I'll see to it personally. As it stands now I left it 2 days until 7 March, and everybody's agreed in IRC. I think as long as we have active editors, they're happy to share things they find humorous. Mike the Græt (Talk) 11:40, 1 March 2012 (EST)
 • Mike, you didn't really overwrite my comment, did you? DID YOU? TylerRosenow º Ӕ º º 19:53, 1 March 2012 (EST)
i'm sure it was an accident. :) -hipcrime 21:41, 3 March 2012 (EST)
