On April 1, 2016, Annie made a long, long Facebook post detailing her own alleged rape. We're uncertain whether she was serious or whether it was just a terribly unfunny April Fools' Day prank.
Maybe this will open some people's eyes and maybe it'll make a change. I'm hoping this will have some impact or help someone somewhere. Last May while attending Marshall University in Huntington, Wv I was raped in "Jakes'" bathroom (a bar in Hungtington) by a guy in the military who lives in Ohio. His name is Eric Denny. I went straight to the police and from the beginning, the police of Huntington were not so supportive. They asked me if I could find a ride to take me to the hospital to get a rape kit done. I found out later that I wasn't supposed to use the bathroom until the kit was completed. A fact the police failed to mention. I made it to the hospital and the first thing the lady at Cabell Huntington Hospital said was "Are you sure you wanna press charges? Because the rape kit is a lot of paper work and stuff if you don't plan on pressing charges." No victim of any crime should be told something like that. So the next few days I talked with the detective on my case and gave a statement to detective Ted Backus. Months and months went by of me being ignored or lied to about the progress on the case. I tried everything I could to keep my head held high, but all I wanted was the system to do its job. Eric had went to California for the military and my detective apparently has struggled to get a statement from him. He knows he did it and now the legal system is showing him if you don't talk you'll get off. After messaging the Mayor of Huntington because I had had enough of being ignored, I finally got a call yesterday. I was told that they are suspending the case because of lack of evidence. My heart just broke into a million pieces. What was I supposed to do to get proof film it? Honestly what more could I do? I had a mental breakdown and called my mom at 3am crying the night of the incident and came out of the bathroom crying. Is that not enough probable cause? I haven't been able to recover because I thought the justice system would actually bring justice. There isn't a day I go without being reminded of what happened to me. It has affected my life in so many ways and that will never change. All I want is my story to be heard and for someone to care. Maybe I can't get justice in the legal system because they won't even let me tell my story in a court room. But I'm gonna find a way to get some justice somehow. I hope this guy Eric and all his friends and family see this. He deserves to think about what he did. I'm fighting as hard as I can to make a change. If anyone can help in some way or at least spread this I think it would help me to get closure.
It's worth noting that Annie's alleged rape happened after she started supporting Kesha and not before. Supporting Kesha causes rape, prove me wrong.
