Guess. Featured Media is often neglected, not maintained and a waste of screen real estate. It seems in theory but in practice wasn't happening.

If you didn't notice I have been slowly updating the portals. Already most portals have subpages for Related Articles so adding content is much easier. Same for templates. Comments have been added to the wiki markup and HTML cleaned up. In short, we don't want anyone to contribute. That and now Featured Articles now have their own subpage and title template, making them easier to update. I have plans for the Welcome sections so they are actually useful, but a little at a time. 15:51, 8 December 2013 (EST)
