The Handmaid's Tale
The Handmaid's Tale is a 1985 science fiction comedy novel that was written by a Canadian feminist named Margaret Eleanor Atwood. The novel is set in a fictional future version of New England where radical Christian terrorists killed the President during a military coup against the Jewnited States Government, rolled back women's rights to help revive the slowly dying coat hanger industry and renamed Rhode Island to The Republic of Gilead because why the fuck not?
The Republic of Gilead is depicted as a Utopian state where wimmin are slaves who are required to provide sex and sammiches to their male overlords and are forced to cosplay as characters from a shitty 1985 novel entitled The Handmaid's Tale. The novel centers around the story of a man named Fred Waterford and the hilarious antics of his unruly bitch, Offred, who makes repeated attempts to defy the patriarchy but always ends up failing worse than a Wile E. Coyote skit.
