Before making your first article look over ED:101. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being banned by ED Sysops.

We realize a lot of you are busy or may be new to ED, so here's just the most important info:

  • Read ED:101. Seriously. The information contained within is invaluable. Further tutorials of use can be found here.
  • To answer a message, reply on the user's talk page (Tab at the top that says 'discussion').
  • Sign your comments by using four tildes (like this ~~~~)
  • These are the sysops. If you have a problem, talk to them. They're here to help; we promise.
  • The TJC is the community portal. It's linked to from every page; just look at the top left of the page. Check it daily.
  • Use Special:Upload to upload pictures. Be sure to give them meaningful names. Also, do not upload any CP or Bestiality pr0n or you will be b&.

Missing Images

If you're getting rid of missing images from an article plz2blving the original code.

Example: You see that Are.gif is missing, find it in the gallery and use <!> at either end of the text thus...

If you encounter images outside of a gallery then it's a similar process only use...

hi. when it's {{eduser}}, just remove the template. otherwise it just depends. if its a list of socks, i just de-link them by removing the brackets. if it's stuff like a link to a usertalk that had good stuff on it, i try to find the userpage (and maybe even the source) at archive.org. if the source is not available, you can link to the archive.org page. hope this helps. :) -hipcrime 02:43, 28 October 2012 (EDT)

the way i do it is click the redlink, for example, then copy the "create" link at the top, then place that into http://archive.org ... and change the https to http, and the .com to .se, which yields nothing, so you then just try it with http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Idol , and it turns up as a redirect to american idol. most have been caught, but about twice a week someone finds a new one to add. :) -hipcrime 00:26, 1 November 2012 (EDT)

Those new categories you're making

I really hope you're not going to make a category for every single person with more than one article. But if you are, may I suggest making a category for A-Log and Zeriara, each have about five articles dedicated to them. Hi, I'm not going to be able to sort those out at the moment as I'm on my phone... In future just post the links to the source, there's no point in uploading a replacement to "PicX-1.jpg" as "PicX-2.jpg", it just makes more work (in that I then have to request PicX-2.jpg be deleted as superflous to requirements). Template:DND

Is there any reason that absolutely every page that template references shouldn't be deleted? Because I can think of several they should.

  1. They shit up Special:Random
  2. They shit up SEO bounce rates to any user who visits them
  3. They shit up the chance anybody edits or creates it
  4. They imply that shitty pages should be edited or created
  5. They shit up the entire point that the links were red in the first place (People not knowing how to edit)
  6. They really tempt sysops to delete them

Not any trouble at all. I'm just thinking about it. Red links don't hurt anything. If you go to Special:WantedPages and are going by that, each page will show a deletion log as a warning not to make it if it were deleted. If it weren't, then there's a reason the links are there. If you remove them, then they won't be. Simply patching the maintenance doesn't make it done. Archives can be jacked with as can other user's pages. If they don't like it they can undo it and if they're not here to undo it then fuck them. You may upset some users removing stuff from global archives like TJC, but I don't know who. If you want a good opinion about this type of stuff we should ask junius. I think he likes the red links on his pages' archives.
I can generally see four reasons a link is red. An idiot added it and it needs to be removed, the article got deleted and it needs to be removed, it's a popular subject and the article should be made, or the page was restored from archives and it's likely the article is from the archive in some form as well and it needs to be restored.
